The Huntsville Car Scene.com Fall Photo Cruise

Well, it's time to do it again! With the success of HCS pulling off it's first ever event, we thought we'd try it again and make it better this time.

No route is currently planned, so we're open to suggestions. Food will need to be thought out as well as a way to systematically get each car in front of my camera that wants a picture taken. (This was something that people seemed to want more of from the last event.)

We will be having a preliminary organizational meeting for this event right after the Vets with Vettes Cruise-In in Athens at the Backyard Burger. Everyone is welcome to come and help plan what will be a very enjoyable and fun event for all. I hope to see you there.

I think this is more of a SLOW AND SHOW cruize and a FAST AND GO one. It is more to show off our cars than show what they can do.

I think this is meant to be a nice scenery slow cruise...not that race thru the streets of miami like the second fast and furious movie....wherever the trip is planned make try and find some roads that are nice a smooth samir...so we can ride super low w/ no problems

Good ideas and feedback! Keep it coming.

Someone in the old thread mentioned going to Scottsboro. Anyone have ideas on specifically where in Scottsboro would be good? Or anywhere else for that matter.

I found a web site a little while back that would be of use. Let me see if I can get the url posted again.

i dont see how you can mix the word curvy and twisty with the word race

i have already explained why i said twisty and curvy roads.

how about a trip up to fayetteville tn ?

we can go the back route through cold water (its a town)
its a beutiful drive, lots of cover trees and yes it has some curves.

personally, i dont see driving out 72east as being so exicting.

Whatever route we take, this is all about going off the beaten path. But Fayetteville is out. They didn't like us last time, even though we told them we were coming.

I found that site I was looking for: www.alabamafilm.org. It has locations for shooting movies and such in there. I'm sure some of them would be great to have a cruise to with a photo shoot.

JACK DANIELS FACTORY, I think that the trip up to lynchburg would be real cool. Or maybe a trip out by historic florence or Hartsell, or Guntersville by the lake or something.

There may be some curvey roads through Bankhead Forest and around Smith Lake in Lawrence, Winston & Cullman Counties. Chip & I use to live out that way for several years. But how many would be interested in that direction? If so, we will pull out those county maps and take a look.

Also, east of Scottsboro and Guntersville Lake there are back roads through some pretty country. We did a club cruise a few years back in that area, east of Fort Payne, Lookout Mountain, and Little River Canyon National Preserve. Great waterfalls and canyon. I would love to go again. But Chip & I were at the end, so do not remember which roads we took. But some beautiful country and scenery over that way. And a large restaurant where the group ate lunch. Someone that lives in that area or knows that area needs to speak up. Thanks, Marsha

ok .. forget i said curves.

scenery is what i meant.

so.. how about this -

a mountain cruise. up monti sano and down bankhead.(or vise versa)

we could all meet up at K-mart or brunos
then leave and go down oakwood, right on church, through downtown (going in front of big springs).. imagine a shot from across the pond of a dozen or two slick rides driving down church. we could order the cars by year or color or style, or something when in the parking lot.
left on gov. .. up monti sano, left at that road on the top, over to bankhead (with a stop over at monti sano park). down bankhead, down pratt (if thats the road) right on service road, ending right back at brunos (or K-mart)

i know this would be a short cruise, and i may be missing a street or getting one mixed with anotrher, but you should get my point. you got several photo opps. and the whole cruise would be short and easy.
should be only an hour or two to make this run.

Jack Daniels doesn't have enough room for 100+ cars. Plus, there's really no scenery there. We checked it out for the last run.

I think the ideas of hitting Florence, Hartselle or Guntersville are great. Any particular places? Remember, we want to take photos.

I think this would be a good start, but I anticipate over 100 cars in this cruise. The last one had over 70 registered. That was even higher than the highest expectations for turnout.
