frame

Seems like ive seen this done somewhere..... i vaguely remember the donor turned out to be a slightly modified Dakota frame...Sounds like an awesome project, have you thought about using the existing rails and just attatching modern suspension and drive train components to them. Body mount perches can be a real pain especially when your fighting to keep the integrity of the lines in the older vehicle...i had a 53 chevy panel van with a 500 cad mill that was updated with a longer options list than a new car...an 85 silverado was the donor for most of the suspension, chevy stuff is easy to work with because of its unit construction so the silverado k frame was rolled under the old rails and bolted in...rode like a new( then) TRUCK... the Job Rated had somewhat slab sided didnt it and if im not mistaken the one my old man had was set over an almost flat floor... I always liked the bat wing hood.....split window too wasnt it...very cool.

Those had very heavy frame rails under them,....im afraid it may not be as easy as you are thinking......I would like to see the truck, Ive built quite a few vehicles like this and may be able to shed some light on the project.....
