Cool Summertime Activities

Since Keith is no longer going to be the the activities coordinator for the club, I figured we could post ideas up here. Then once we have a list of activities, we can take volunteers to head up each one. So lets hear those ideas.

I'll post a few first. I recall Mark Dorner mentioning the Jack Daniel's distillery not too long ago, so I'll give him the credit for that one.

- Jack Daniel's Distillery
- Covered Bridges Tour (we did this last year, but we could go to different ones this time)
- Poker Run
- Drive-In Movie

There's a lot of local cruise-ins and car shows as well. Maybe coordinating some events with other local clubs like the covered bridge last year with the corvette club.

Hey ya'll, I just got off the phone with the people at Monte Sano State Park, and got the information on Pavillion availabilty. The large pavillion is $85- for all day, has several tables, in the shade and restrooms too. There are still 3 Sundays available in July. Sunday the 17th, 24th, and the 31st. If you think that anyone would be interested in having a picnic up there at the park let me know. I'll get with Bill Tucker for an "OK", and then I can reserve the pavillion with my CC. Let me know soon, the woman at the park said the pavillions were filling up fast. Greg

If you want to make this even more than just an RCMC thing, contact some of the other local clubs as well. It won't hurt to have them pitch in for the cost. And the more car people in one place, the more fun we can have.

Well, I was thinking of it as a RCMC picnic. I'll be able to expand on that a little more after I talk to Bill (I'll PM ya Samir).

All good suggestions. I especially like the Drive-In movie. It's a great long cruise, followed by an impromptu carshow, followed by movies broadcast on FM.

We do need a new activities coordinator. Anyone...? Scott, it's great resume material for your RCMC political career.

So now you're campaigning for me? I guess there's no escaping it. I probably wouldn't make a good activities coordinator as I don't know where anything is.

Activities coordinator needs to be a longtime Huntsville area resident, someone who knows his/her way around about an 80 mile radious. JMO anyway...

I second the Greg Gullatt nomination for Activities Coordinator. Any opposed? (silence) Motion passed, meeting adjourned.

Sounds okay to me. You know, we don't really need a coordinator, just people to say "Hey, how about we get together and go ........."

Too much delegation and tasking and not enough participation.

That's the reason I started this thread.
Anyway, I googled for drive-ins and found the Cinemagic Drive-In in Athens. Is this the only local drive-in? We could get together for dinner first (nothing too fancy), and then head over to a movie on some Saturday.

Oh, and which Hooters?

That's the only drive-in in the area. The Just Kruisn' group had a drive-in a few weeks back. I don't think there's anything else schedule as of yet.
