The details are on the club website, and there is a blurb on this
site's event calender as well. The show is July 16, at Point Mallard Park,
Decatur, Alabama, and is open to VWs of all types. There will also be
food/drink concessions (thank you, Boy Scouts), toy/parts/souvenier
vendors, judging/prizes for both air-cooled and water-cooled, a diecast
dragstrip, and the usual fun of Point Mallard.

The club website, w/links to Point Mallard, pics of the show site and
the campground, and a downloadabe double-sided flyer/map

Hope this helps,
Dolphe

What time are you gong to come out there? I have
to be there at 6 so I can get the oh-so-many VW toys
out and ready for 8AM. Who else is going to this, anyway;
I know some are reading this board...They can use help
on Friday night moving the picnic tables.

You're asking me what I'll be doing on that weekend right now? I don't even know what my schedule is for tomorrow, lol.

Currently, there's nothing else that I know of going on that day, but I haven't done a complete event search yet. If things stay the way they are right now on the schedule, I'll probably leave Madison around 11am and stay until it is over.

One thing I noticed is that the club cruise-in is the same night. Will that still be happenning? If people don't want to drive all the way to Madison to Sonic, there's actually another cruise-in that night in in Decatur. The monthly cruise-in location could be changed for this month only. That way it's just down the street for those that have the energy.

Weight reduction is weight reduction...although most carbon fiber you can buy is just fiberglass. I've seen and touched real carbon fiber and that stuff isn't pretty...just tough!

i herd carbon fiber (the real stuff) is sposed to be virtually indestructible...is this true or just a myth? i cant remember where i herd it...i thought it was just some nasa space age material thats a really lite plastic replacement...im gonna do a google search and see what i come up with

I actually felt some of the material that made up Scott Sharp's race car. The cockpit is surrounded by it, and man is it hard! You can tell that if you bump your head on this stuff, a brick wall would feel like a pillow. It was a really dense plastic type of material. Really awesome stuff.

Dude, you can't eat it. Although now that I'm thinking about it, they'd make some bad teeth.

Samir, did you ever get the banner for this event? And were you talking
about putting a soundfile on here? Still listening for PSAs to start on NPR...

Thank you for getting us back on topic, lol.

I still haven't recived the banner. The sooner I get one, the better. Thousands of people will see the banners if we can get them up for a month or more.

The PSAs were in audio format, and I'd have to convert them, which would take time. Which I'm lacking really badly this week.

At last night's meeting, it was decided to pass on doing
the monthly cruise-in; after the Friday night work session, and
a 12-hour show day, most won't be up for it. Doesn't mean it
can't happen anyway, just that most clubbers won't be there.

Cool. Thank you for the update. I couldn't make it to the meeting--another super-busy week.
