Cars like this are available if you're willing to pay the price. Most manufacturers produce a ready to go racer with cage, etc. that has to be ordered directly from them. But it's not cheap. Expect a racer like the car above to be $85k+. Still wanna buy?

The good thing about our state is that you could probably get it registered and get a tag on it, lol.

Rally wannabes and Ken Block disciples will now be able to buy a Ford-blessed kit that turns their Fiesta into a race-ready machine, complete with 40% power boost. There's now more than one way to build a flying car.

The Fiesta R2 kit designed by Ford and M-Sport will be sold only through the Team O'Neil rally driving school. It includes a new five-speed Sadev sequential gearbox with flat shift gear cut, Reiger adjustable dampers with Eibach springs, competition brakes and a roll cage. The engine upgrades include new pistons and camshafts, granting 168 horsepower and 134 lb.-ft. of torque, a 40% boost over the stock Fiesta.

Buying the R2 kit also gains access to the Fiesta Sport Trophy Championship in RallyCar's Rally America National Championship 2WD class for 2011. The winner of that class gets a ride at Wales Rally GB and a chance to win a year's residential placement at M-Sport, working with the BP Ford World Rally team.

Ford didn't immediately reveal how much it would cost to get your Fiesta ready to gymkhana in your church parking lot, but did say a cheaper Stage 1 version of the R2 kit with unspecified subtractions would also be available.

Despite the X Games spectacles, rally racing hasn't caught on in the United States as it has in Europe, for any number of reasons. The R2 kit and a dedicated trophy could start to change that.

Doubt it's $85k for 168hp haha.

I doubt it's that much too for a kit, but for a fully assembled car from the manufacturer, I don't think it's going to be much less than that brand new. Besides, where's the roll cage?

Some manufacturer race cars can be found used for $25-30k. There was a Mustang race car like that at a local autocross this year. I'll have to find the pic when I get a chance.

The pic I posted above doesn't have the roll cage, but that kit does come with one. Once purchased, that kit is fully able to run certain rally events.

It's a pretty nice kit, and it would make that car probably able to even run Crow Mountain and the SCCA Time Trials series. Although with 168hp, it would probably have trouble keeping up.

I'm betting the AWD Fiesta R2 is either using the SHO tranny or something built from the design...cause the new SHO is awd right?

The awd system is probably from the Euro spec car. They have an turbo Fiesta in Europe.
Ford of Europe make alot of cars that we never see. They had (may still may) a awd turbo Focus as well. I **think** they still sell a v8 rwd mid size sedan based off the Aussie Falcon chassis in Europe also.

The European Fords are sooo much better than what we have. I remember seeing xr4ti's in London back in the day like Ford Escorts here. They had lens-style headlights almost a decade before we did. And my uncle's wife's stock Ford Festiva had suspension stiffer than most of our performance ones.

They need to, they're missing out on the awd-turbo marketshare. Or at least, that's what I'd tell them so they bring them here.

i guess someone needs to show ford how much of a market there is for awd turbo car. Problem I'd forsee is that they have the civic here and it is considered an entry level compact car. Most people would not see it as a performer. I do think it would give the STi's and EVo's a run for their money though and likely be the same price.
