This was my second time attending the Indy Grand Prix. At the inaugural event, I was in the wrong position to get pictures of the s2000s on track with the driver they were parading before the start of the race. But this year, I vindicated myself. Not only did I get some amazing shots rolling to the track from the hotel, but I also got some really great shots of almost everyone on track with their driver.

I only came Sunday since I've done the whole weekend before. This time around, I spent most of my time in the car corral because I wasn't going to miss the drivers on course at any cost. I really felt bad that I spent money to rent extra nice camera equipment last time and wasn't able to use it for its intended purpose. While I was in the car corral, I shot a lot of video clips to give you the full experience of what it was like on Sunday. From videos of the amazing cars in the car corral, to videos of s2000s in every style of sound byte--stock, with various exhausts, turboed, and supercharged. I even shot videos of the s2000 driver's meeting, lol.

And speaking of car corral, there were so many awesome cars present. If you've ever considered parking on site, it's well worth the extra money just to have your car there and in a safe environment. Plus, you get to see all the other neat cars, and meet other enthusiasts like yourself. It's also nice to have officials there watching the cars.

This is such a fun yearly event that some of the guys that participated in the St. Petersburg race joined us here at Barber to do it again. It's like being IRL s2000 groupies, lol.

After the race started, I thought I'd get some pictures of the cars on track since I was there. There were some close calls and incidents I almost captured, but they move so fast that it's extremely hard to do with a camera that doesn't focus instantly.

I want to thank Lionel for the ride to the track and the opportunity to get some great rolling shots. -- Samir

I'll be there with the s2000s that will be parading the IRL drivers around the track before the race.

I've been meaning to post up an event, but it's been tight timing for everything I need to get done lately.

The Rocket City Mustang club will also be going to meet Jack Roush.

What time will you be doing the tour? Sounds like fun!

I'll have to talk to Jay w/ teamSahlen's. The ideal time would be to have the tour an hour or so before the autograph session on Saturday.

That would work for me. I have to be in place at my shooting spot before the IRL drivers ride with the s2000 group, and this should be well after the autograph sessions. Where are you staying? The s2000 guys have a deal with the Comfort Suites in Pelhem for $60-something per night.

When is everyone leaving Saturday morning? I was planning to be at the s2000 headquarter hotel by 8am and buffer it a good bit, so I was planning on leaving around 4-5am.

I was planning on leaving Madison at 6 am. Do I need more of a buffer?

Depends on what time you want to get in the park. Traffic was mild for the s2000s going to the park last year from the hotel in Pelham. It took us about 35 minutes. The s2000s will be leaving the hotel at 9am, so I'm going to target getting there by 8am and buffer it even more. They're my ride in and out since I probably won't have a parking pass.

Joseph and I had a really good drive down with very little traffic. No problems at all getting into Barber, except my car did not want to pull a hill with knee deep gravel. It was sunny, actually HOT! I forgot the sunscreen. The Paddock upgrade was worth every penny and then some. It was so amazing being so up close and personal with the crews. Patrick Dempsey made his appearance. Shelby Blackstock is Reba McEntire's son. He also runs with Roush Racing. Reba is the absolute sweetest person ever! She is so down to earth. We also got a tour of Jack Roush Jr's hauler.

Today was AWESOME!! Billy held onto 1st place for several laps. He had to pit and unfortunately, fell behind. He advanced so quickly! He went from 13th place to 9th place in only 1 lap! In the end, he finished in 3rd place. A couple of more laps, and he would have been in 1st place. He actually had the fastest car today. Go Roush Jr and Billy Johnson!!!

Shelby Blackstock got hit at the end. Joseph ended up taking home his bent up fender. Jospeh, you still owe me half!!! I got a Continental Tire baseball cap from Victory Lane.

Sounds like you guys had an absolute blast! It's awesome that Billy did so well at Barber. I know he didn't seem to confident when I talked to him earlier in the week since the BMW team was running with them and they were still figuring out the car. Looks like he's poised to be back on top. Congrats to Billy and the whole team!

Too bad they pack and leave Saturday. I would have been nice to congratulate them on Sunday. I wish I would've also remembered to tell Austin about this. He was there and could've taken even more pictures while you guys were having fun.

I'm still an enthusiast to the bone. It's where all the good thinking comes from.
