New here...

Well, i'm new to the boards and I just bought a new car last Saturday... a member on Camaro5 told me about the site so I decided to join... basic info, my name is Adam, i'm 26 years old, a gear head, and from Muscle Shoals... last Saturday I bought a loaded 2010 2SS/RS Camaro(hence the name, lol) with only 5600 miles on it, fully loaded with sunroof, leather, RS package, halo lights, remote start, heated seats, etc.... I had a full bolt-on 23psi LNF turbo Cobalt get totaled out in May and had spent the summer car searching... picked up my new car Saturday:

its a 100% stock L99 as of right now, but won't be for long, a Magnaflow X-pipe, catback and tuning by Vince from Trifecta is on the agenda 1st... also some cosmetic stuff like 20% tint and black powdercoated wheels....

then comes the fun stuff, stall, headers, DRs, etc... got to be sounding good and looking good before going fast IMO, lol

also, the car is Cyber Grey Metallic with black stripes(though the stripes are hard to even notice)... I'm not too big on the "striped" Camaros, mine are hardly noticeable though and do look pretty damn good on it...

Welcome Adam! Sharp car. I noticed the stripes on the hood, but they're that matte look stripe, so it's really subtle.

If you haven't met the Rocket City Camaros yet, you definitely need to, www.rocketcitycamaros.com. They're a great group of folks and ask Shelia from the group how much fun she had today.

Great looking car. I have not even been inside one yet. I use one in RealRacingHD, one of the better handling cars at high speeds. So many styling cues brought over from the late 60's Camaro. Seems so familiar. I had a '68 RS, a '68 SS and a '69 Z28 that I built up from a rolling shell. Nice effect on the bow tie BTW.

Man after hearing everything you did with the Cobalt, I can't wait to see what you do to this lol. I know you was trying to keep the title of fast Cobalt in Alabama hehehe. Let's see if you can claim that title with that Camaro lol.

Give me a year, she'll be moving on out

And I had the safest cobalt in Bama, lol... the one that was supposedly going to beat me........ I put about 5 car lengths on him WITH a 240lb passenger against his single occupancy in 459... lol

The "350 hp" s/c car wouldn't even fu*king race, lol

Safest=fastest, stupid autocorrect

Even with josh being on E85... I was full bolt on on 93 he was basically stock(downpipe) on E85, so we were probably VERY close in whp... however, he can't launch and even he will tell you that, so I would have schooled him even with him being on E. I was an E85 tune from 375whp and low 12s. He was several boltons and A LOT of driver skill.... I had just bought the work car and was about to put it on E85..... when someone decided to pull out in front of it

All water on the bridge now and I always was a V8 guy at heart so im back in my element, still missthe turbo and the look on people face when the turbo spooled to 23psi and 330whp/375 ft lbs came out of a Cobalt but im not upset with my new purchase, ready to start on it

yeah that sucks man. I remember when you posted that up. I was in complete shock over that one. I have noticed that more and more Cobalt SS's are coming to Huntsville. I think there is like at least 10 in the area if not more. Did you ever part out the Cobalt? or did the insurance take it all?

Welcome to the site.

and just because someone is running e85, doesn't make their car any faster.

Not to sound stupid but honestly I don't understand the whole E85 stuff. All I know is octane ratings, Meth injection, Nitrous and water injection. I hear everyone talking about E85 but I'm clueless .

E85 is a great alternative fuel, and depending on the mixture has an octane rating of 100-106 octane. But, it take 20-25% more fuel to make the same power as gasoline. This is also a trade off as you have to remember that this will increase your fuel consumption by 20-25% thus making your fuel economy go down by 20-25%.

Unless you have a flexfuel car, you have to get a complete re-tune and possibly new injectors, new fuel pump, and possibly fuel lines.

The biggest thing being the retune. Even with flexfuel vehicles, it is a good idea to get a retune when just running e85.

I can go really into depth about it if you want, but this is the basics. hahaha =P

E85 is definitely a perk in a LNF, good for about 30whp over the 93 octane tune... for example, a 93 octane tune only put a lnf to about 300whp, full bolt on with a tune, about 330whp.... an e85 tune on a STOCK LNF put it about 330whp, full bolt-on: about 375whp and over 400 ft-lbs.... the lnf loves the stuff... but your are going tolose 2-3mpgs and a new clutch is pretty much a must if you have boltons... the stock clutch was good until about 375ft-lbs

Well I don't have the LNF, I have the LSJ motor. Would there be any point in doing that to the LSJ?

I'm sure there would be, its basically like running 100 octane fuel, in other words, cheap race gas...

there are several LSJs on it on CSS.net

also as far as my car, yeah I just let it go... the insurance company paid for most of what I owed and the gap insurance covered the rest... so I let it go to the grave with the mods still on it.... though from what I could see from the crash, the IC was a total loss(they picked it up off 72 and threw it on the flatbed, lol)... the lower IC piping was smashed, the upper IC piping was a 2 piece unit, the lower section was smashed the upper part would have been fine... I could see the K&N filter was smashed on the Hahn CAI and I'm pretty sure the pipe it connect to was as well, it defintely would have been where it came in through the fenderwell, the fenderwell was bent pretty good... the forge By-Pass Valve would have been fine.. the Downpipe and catback would have been fine... also had the ECM in the car with the bad ass tune... also had the R1 Concept Rotors with Hawk HPS pads on it... so whoever finds that car in the junk yard, is getting a gem... I get calls and PMs all the time from people searching for it, got a call today in fact, lol...

most of the parts people had spoken for but it just wasn't worth my time, the wreck happened on the other side of the state(from the Shoals) and chances are it got taken to a local junk yard near Athens... I was just happy to walk away from the car and decided to start from scratch again with another car... I hated it got crashed but once i realized how bad the crash was going to be, was honestly glad they totaled it out, it never would have been the same... for those interested, the old Cobalt SS:

(that tag is going on the Camaro tomorrow)

and the end result:

on my way to take a final and on 72 heading West from Huntsville toward Athens, had a green light where East Limestone Rd(think that is the name of it) intersects with 72, a car at the red light attempted to turn right onto 72 West without yielding to me... they pulled out when I was about, ohh, 50 ft from them, lol... barely even had time to hit the brakes, didn't matter and then slid through the median realized I was in the oncoming lane(had a face full of air bag, lol) and whipped it BACK into the median coming to a rest... air bag f'd me up pretty good I drive with one hand on the wheel and when I saw the upcoming impact tried to grip the wheel with both hands, unfortunately before I could the air bag came out and propelled my right hand into my chest, bruised my hand and chest pretty good but luckily no fractures...
