Links don't work.

This thread reminds me of an idea for a thread I have where local stolen cars are posted. As enthusiasts, we're a lot more apt to spot one, that's for sure.

And those guys are idiots for stealing them like that. Every enthusiast in the nation is going to be looking for those cars. Unless they ship them overseas, they'll be caught very quickly.

We had planned to take our 86 Grand National but we sold it and delivered it to South Georgia this weekend.

Turbobuick.com has a thread just for stolen vehicles and vin check.

Great idea since those cars are getting more rare every day.

I'm going to see what can be done to get lists of stolen cars in our area each day and post them in a thread when I have time. Probably wouldn't be bad to have hit and run info posted as well as those cars will have identifying marks.

I'm afraid as seamless as the operation went, they've already done whatever they were planning to do with the cars.

I feel for the guys that lost the GNX Models or for any one of them that lost that particular car. Sucks that some people just steal what others worked for.

If your knowledge of GNs only goes as far as the one they demolished in Fast and Furious I feel for you....

(For what its worth I remember seeing the previews to that one at the movies before it came out and almost crying when I seen them mess it up....VERY VERY sad!!!)

From what I gather they had keys to the tow vehicles. Security camera footage shows them walk up, unlock the trucks and get in and drive off in seconds (less than 60...wait thats a Shelby not a GN.) I suspect they cased the cars at the hotel the night before...got the VIN for the trucks and had keys made for them (any dealership can do that if you have the VIN....not supposed to but these are crooks we are talking about...), came back the next night and drove off with them. It was planned well because whos going to be able to spot them mixed in with 5,000 other black GNs that were leaving Bowling Green that day. I bet the trucks are somewhere in BG ditched and they towed the cars behind other vehicles.

I suspect the cars are going overseas. the GNX in particular is a numbered car....it cant ever show up anywhere (carshow, for sale, parts...anywhere) whithout a GN guy spotting it and knowing exactly where it came from.

FYI if you notice the parking passes on the windshield of my truck they are coving the VIN...everybody should do that.

The Fast and Furious comment was probably about how the cars were stolen, not about the actual GN in the movie.

this is what has always scared me about big car meets.... most of these are advertised for months before they happen, this was a National Meet........a car thieves dream... you got some of the rarest cars on the road in one place for a meet.... this isn't the only time this has happened, it won't be the last... if I was a car thief, i'd bounce around forum to forum doing exactly as these guys did... why go and look for rare cars when you know where they will be?

I hope these guys get caught and threw under the jail, but I bet they aren't headed to texas... I bet they are headed to Louisiana... its the car theft ring capital of the U.S. besides Los Angeles....

This is one of the things I don't like about two-day car shows--the security aspect. It's definitely of concern.

When I was on the Hotrod Power Tour this year in Indy the hotel we stayed at had a back parking lot and every spot was full of hotrods. I was walking by the lobby and I heard the manager having a meeting with his hotel staff. He asked for some volunteers to block the entrance and exits to the back lot so access was restricted. He said "we have to much money in nice cars sitting back there for somebody to be rubber necking and run into them"

It was nice and made me feel alot better to have the car parked in the back, wish they all did this
