what exhaust do you like

Decided to go with a axle back exhaust. Choices are

Flowmaster 360 shipped
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFSFbNf-zHk

Kooks Stainless 460 shipped
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vqpmy...EB1C7CF82AEC8B

Spintech 345 shipped
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMlUO...eature=related

Leaning toward the Kooks since they are stainless the others are not, but the flowmaster is appealing - just dont want it to sound like a truck

You know, as I was looking at these, I thought 'wouldn't it be nice to have a web site where you could compare exhausts?' And sure enough, there is one: www.exhaustage.com

I've always been pleased with the quality of Kooks products, but can't speak for the others you have listed.

Sweet I think Samir just offered to pay the difference in the 460 for the Kooks and the 1,180.30 for the Borla. Fist Bump

Now Borla and Corsa have some nice systems as well. I've used both on my past vettes.

Favorite sound was my '02 Z06 with Kooks headers, high flow cats, and Borla stinger exhaust. [insert o-face here] lol

We had a set of spintech's on the 57. Everyone always liked the way it sounded.

But if money was no object............Corsa

I didn't check pricing. There's not much of a sound difference between the two for that much of a price difference. It's got to be in the manufacturing.

Still, after owning a high-dollar exhaust system like this (Greddy SP cat-back for the Altima was $660 in 2000), I wouldn't go any other way, and just save up more. It's something you'll either love or hate every day.

I think the sound of the original three are pretty close. Camera angles and cameras themselves will change a lot of the sound, so I'd check out several clips, and all of them in person if you can. Plus a static sound may be different than one under load, so drivebys and interior sounds would be good too.

As far as the manufacturing aspect, it would come down to brand reputation and warranty for me. Are there any known fit issues? What type of warranty does each have? Anyone had issues with any of them?

Since we live in the south, I don't see the stainless steel really worth that extra $100 unless it looks different. But I don't think it will since it doesn't sound like it's a polished stainless. I don't think you'll be driving the car in salty snow-covered roads that we get once every few years, so rust won't be as much of a factor as up north.

The only thing I dislike about Flowmasters in the drone. On my mom's truck at like 65, it's terrible. Love the sound otherwise, have a set on both of the Mustangs lol.

That can't be characteristic with all of them, is it? I thought they were also building custom cat-backs the way everyone else is.

up and downs -

Flowmasters come with the 4" tips i want and are cheaper.

Kooks are stainless comes with 4" tips and are a bill higher

Spintechs would have to have a 75 buck upgrade for the 4" tips but have a euro exotic sound.

It probabally down to the FLowmasters or Kooks. I don't need the stainless since rust shouldn't be that big of an issue and you won't see them. I like the sound of the Kooks better, but if the Flowmasters won't sound like a 4x4 truck I'll like them also.

Anybody got an LS with super 40 series muffs I can hear. I don't think these version of flowmasters would sound like a truck, but that keeps me from pulling the trigger on them

Flowmaster just evokes images of rednecks, 4x4s and Mustangs to me (not that there's anything wrong with that ). Doesn't seem to fit with a new GTO.

For the small premium that the Spintechs or Kooks are, and the almost guaranteed satisfaction, I wouldn't risk the $300+ just to get something you may not like. Then you'd have to sell the Flowmasters at a loss to turn around and spend even more for what you could have just had in the first place. And a Euro sound would be very cool.

just get a custom stainless system with as little bends as possible or maybe one modeled off of one of the name brand ones and put dynomax bullets and 4" tips of your choice

That wouldn't be a bad way to go if this was a $1000 system. But for the $100+ he'd save, it wouldn't be worth the trouble. The flow testing and R&D can really make a huge difference. A lot of the 93-98 Altima guys swore on a custom cat-back for $250 until some of them got their hands on a $600+ Greddy. Then, all they talked about was how they wasted $250 on their first exhaust.

All this talk about exhausts made me search for a 95 Altima with the Greddy cat-back--couldn't find one. And I couldn't find one for a 94 Accord either. And I need to get one for that car because the stock system has a hole in the pipe now.
