Post your favorite lesser known local restaurants

No chains

Had some good pizza last weekend in Elgin on 72 toward Florence. Primo's Pizzeria. Try it!

2780 Hwy 101
Rogersville, AL 35652

Can't forget about Cricket's in Madison either or Old Greenbrier on Old Hwy 20 off County Line Rd in Madison.

Cajun Cafe

It's in Lacey's Spring just across the river bridge and
past the gas stations.

It's on the left if you are headed South, right across
from the mini-storage.

Open (usually) Friday Saturday Sunday,
depends on the catch, CALL FIRST !

Rafael's Pizza over by that Publix is awesome, too!

Two large 3-topping pizzas for ~ $18 and they are AWESOME!

Little Diner‎
1219 Jordan Lane Northwest
Huntsville, AL 35816

$5 for a giant burger and plate of fries, but they're only open for lunch. My business partner and I would go here for lunch when the day was getting to us. Otherwise, we skipped lunch.

There's lots of great little places around our area.

I have a secret sushi place that is my sanctuary, but I don't want it to get popular, so I'm not posting it.

There's a place called Cathy's Diner thats located inside a gas station at the corner of 231/431 and Meridianville Bottom Road. Her hamburgers will knock your socks off. Fat boy approved.

I knew that was coming!

I used to love Mojo's hamburgers but I haven't had one in almost 10 years.

Yeah the slice I had of that Rafaels pizza was good. Thx again Beck
Staggs groceries in florence if they're still open had the best bacon cheeseburgers I've ever tasted. Half pound of beef with deep fried bacon and awesome fries and a huge fountain drink for around $5 back when I was in college. I could only eat it once a week for fear of having a heart attack at an early age. I heard the place caught fire but was rebuilt after I left. I hope they're still as good and plan to make it back one day but like the place Samir mentioned they're only open for lunch and not on weekends IIRC. Back about 7-8 years ago I took a half day at work so I could drive there to get a burger w a friend but he had car troubles and we made it to florence 5 min after they closed...so very sad.

Another awesome spot in florence is Ricatonis which has great italian food. I still drive there with a friend of mine every couple of months to eat. An hour drive each way is worth it to me when i'm craving it.

I had crickets in madison for the first time yesterday for lunch and can attest to the comments made earlier in this thread that they're great wings. Was a little sad they didnt have boneless on the menu but the bone in wings were some of the best i've had.

Big spring Cafe on governors that was mentioned has some great burgers as well like mentioned. 2 bacon cheese burgers fries and a double cola...mmmmm Bring cash though as they dont accept credit cards!

For Mexican I like cazadores in the hampton cove area. Great white cheese dip and I think they setup a buffett at lunchtime. My dad's hispanic crews used to go to that place all the time when they were working a job over in that area so we figured it had to be good.

Also close to cazadores is a great pizza place Tortoras. I'm sure many have heard about it. I think it's gotten voted best pizza in north AL for the past 2 years. I've not been since the head chef opened up his own pizza restaurant out on countyline rd in madison though.

Edit: No breakfast this morning and now i've gotten myself all good n hungry thinking about these places.
