there's a big ride on coalmine / bingham mtn. this weekend called the Easter run, should be a couple hundred folks there enjoying redneck living at it's best. Yes, I will be one of them!

I wish I could be there. There's another big run at Coal Creek above Oak Ridge that I wish I could go out to. I need another 4x4...

If by "offroading" you mean "cruise on a perfectly paved road with no bumps" then I'm all in.

Wish I still had my TJ. But I'm in the same boat as 1badZ right now.

I got enough bent wheels already...

Sometimes I miss having my 31x10.50's...

I've actually heard about this ride, but because of the informal nature of it, I haven't tried to find out any more information on it.

But that being said, if someone wants to post it on the calendar, I won't mind.

Land Rovers are so so so impressive offroad. I went to Wooly's with some buddies in a Xterra group and we kept running into Land Rover of Nashville beating on some cars off their lot. I saw one of their little LR2s go places you wouldn't believe being driven by a skilled offroaded.

Are you a button-up and khakis wearing offroaded like them?
One of their passengers was reading a book and eating a bannana like it was nothing and their rig was quite angled sideways.

Not that far. I just have a stock discovery 2. With street tires. Should be fine if it don't rain.

As are the Porsche Cayannes. My friend Clint used to be the lead technician at the dealership here and he told me about their training day with them. They were going down a 45 degrees slope and it was raining hard. But the Cayanne has a system similar to the Land Rovers where it will apply the brakes properly to keep from sliding down the hill. I guess it's cheating in one sense, but must make for a pretty smooth ride.

Yes the abs systems works almost like a locker. When it detects wheel spin it will apply the brakes slightly so the wheel with traction is allowed to spin. But there is no replacement for a full manual locker offroad.

Thanks Samir! It's a lot of fun. I backed into a tree a few runs ago and put a little dent in the rear quarter... oh well.

I bought the cheapest 6 cyl auto I could find. It happened to have "Manager's Special" shoe polished on the windshield at the mom 'n pop place I bought it from... hence:

Most recent addition = rocker guards:

Dents happen when trail riding. Very cool what you've been able to do with your 'manager's special'.
