Let me introduce myself

Your first name:
Michael

How did you find out about Huntsville Car Scene, and what inspired you to register?:
I have known Samir from various TAC AutoX events since probably around 2002.

What's the significance of your user name?
My user name comes from a Stephen King short story called Apt Pupil. It was also turned into a movie. Dussander was one of the characters, I liked the name, but do not like or in anyway endorse the character.

What type of vehicle(s) do you own? :
I recently picked up a 2009 Carrera S in Aqua Blue Metallic. I also still own a 2002 WRX in WRB. I use to also own a Birel shifter kart with a Honda CR125 motor.

Post some pictures of your vehicles(s):
My Subie at a National Tour:

My Subie towing my shifter kart:

The 911 at an AutoX:

and at TGPR:

at home:

What's your favorite activity to do with your vehicle(s)?
I am mostly into motorsports. I use to AutoX a lot with some RallyX and track events in my WRX. Then I AutoX'ed and raced W2W in the shifter kart for a couple of years. Once my son was born, I had to stop racing. Now that my son is getting older, I can finally start getting out to some events. Now I am mostly interested in track events in the 911. SCCA PDX or PCA DEs. I hope to eventually get a Time Trial vehicle, but I'm reluctant to buy/own a tow vehicle. I also do some sim racing in iRacing, mostly in the Star Mazda series.

So, what is the difference between a Porcupine and a Porsche?

Pricks are on the inside of Porsche's?

I've always heard that about BMW's as well.......lol.

Welcome. Good to see a few more racers on the site.

I usually say it as "On a Porcupine, the pricks are on the outside!"

Yeah, classic snob car joke. I was going to try to get PORQPIN on my license plate, but ended up with NOLIF, meaning No Lift, but most people read it as No Life.

Welcome Michael! It's good to see you back racing again. Lovely color on the Porsche too! So glad you have still have the WRX.

Lovely little known fact about Michael--at one point he was the fastest (autocross) driver in a Subaru in the state.

You definitely need to connect with the Heart of Dixie Porsche club if you haven't yet. They're based in Huntsville and do a lot of PDX events, many times with other regions. Lots of fun with fun cars.

lol. I know there's two members in the Vet with Vettes Corvette club with similar stories.

One has VAMOOSE (vamoose) that got read as "Virginia Moose".
The other is BRNRBR (Burning Rubber) that got read as "Browner Bear". There's even a brown bear that was bought as a gag gift to go with that one.

I considered several different plate ideas on my cars before finally settling on the ones I did. I considered 4PLAY (for play) for one of them, but knew it would have had people thinking something else instead.

Welcome Michael! I too have a bit of a problem with my "MTYMOUS" plate. A few have read it as "empty mouse" instead of "mighty mouse". For some reason they rejected "MYTMOUS" when I applied. Oh well. Having fun anyhow, even if the mouse is empty.

I know I'm a little late here, but welcome to the forum! I am pretty sure that I have seen your Subie with the cart in tow, although it was a few years back.

If you have a performance car, I highly recommend trying a DE event. I can recommend various groups that run them around here: SCCA, PCA, Chin, etc.
