Very Interesting CA Police Training Video

Law enforcement has always been hard, but a lot of times, it has holes that make it completely ineffective. This video is a perfect example of how laws, when incorrectly researched and enforced, do not accomplish the task they set out to do.

With respect to this particular video, modifying a car does not automatically mean the car is to be used for any type of illegal activity such as streetracing. This type of thought behind the creation of enforcement methods doesn't solve problems; it only generates revenue. The purpose behind law enforcement is just that--law enforcement. No one is supposed to get rich doing that, especially when it doesn't solve anything. Check out the video and post your opinions.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I can imagine them seizing a Yenko Camero because the parts on it "aren't stock".

If the law is to better address street racing, then this legislation needs to be enforced when in proximity of or during such an event--not when going to get groceries. Besides, streetracing can happen with completely stock cars, so what does this law do? Nothing.

That does bypass some emmissions systems, but that's a federal law, not a state one. But that may be different in California since they have their own emission law too.

If anything, a modification like that should only be an issue when the car no longer meets emission regulations. I know plenty of cars that run cleaner and less polluting modified than stock.

This video was originally posted to the Tennessee Valley Sportbike Club email list. There's been a parallel discussion going on there.

The best analogy posted there was this: "kinda like gettin thrown in jail for attempted bank robbery because there was a ski mask and gloves in the car!"

I think that shows how out of wack this enforcement really is.

Yep, I was afraid of that. They removed it from their server. I knew it was going to happen, but I couldn't figure out a way to download the video locally.

Wasn't my video or I would've hosted it on Huntsville Car Scene. There was no way to download it, or I would have. I knew that it would go away. It was simply too popular and controversial.

Edit: I should've read that site more carefully. I thought it was just another video host--didn't realize there was such a thing. Of course, I think that site violates every other one's terms of service, lol.

If you can ftp it to me, that'd be cool.

If it was a red elise, it should be at the TAC car show this weekend. There's a couple in town now. They're a neat little driver's car. Not your daily cruiser--unless you're driving all the time.
